Which cameras are compatible with Fotos?
Fotos works with any camera that supports FTP transfer over WiFi. This includes most professional and prosumer cameras from Sony, Canon, Nikon, and Fuji manufactured in the last 5 years. Check your camera's manual for FTP/WiFi transfer capabilities.
How fast is the wireless transfer compared to a cable?
Transfer speeds depend on your network setup. On a dedicated 5GHz WiFi network or wired Ethernet connection, most users experience RAW file transfers in under 2 seconds—comparable to USB 3.0 tethering for typical file sizes.
Do I need special network equipment?
No special equipment is required. Any standard WiFi router works. For best performance, we recommend a dedicated 5GHz network for your camera and workstation to minimize interference from other devices.
Does Fotos work with Capture One and Lightroom?
Yes! Fotos deposits files directly into a watch folder of your choice. Both Capture One and Lightroom can be configured to automatically import from this folder, giving you real-time image review just like traditional tethering.
Is my data secure?
Absolutely. All transfers happen locally on your network. Your images never pass through external servers. Fotos simply facilitates the FTP connection between your camera and computer—your data stays entirely under your control.
